davey1825 Posted January 10, 2007 Report Posted January 10, 2007 hello fellow members!! I have a a 1.1 Fiesta (as well as the Gal!!) i put Quote
big_kev Posted January 10, 2007 Report Posted January 10, 2007 Just over 30MPG I get more out of my Gal In fact If I towed yours as well I would still get more. You have a serious problem if this mpg is correct. Quote
davey1825 Posted January 10, 2007 Author Report Posted January 10, 2007 yes that's what i got, i'm suspecting the Lambda sensor has had it to be honest so it's spanners at the ready!!! Cheers Kev PS didn't think it was possible to get that sort of MPG out of an 1100!!, yes i do service it regularly as well!!! Quote
big_kev Posted January 10, 2007 Report Posted January 10, 2007 I am assuming of course that you do not have a leaky fuel tank. Also that you done the mileage at a sensible speed, above 20mph and below 80mph. Quote
davey1825 Posted January 10, 2007 Author Report Posted January 10, 2007 no kev i don't have a leaky fuel tank!!!, i only do 5.5 mile each way to work and back so it's not long got warm by the time i get there, i do about 65 on the m/way and don't drive "mad" either, i have changed every concievable filter, set the tappets - sounds REALLY quiet as well now, changed the oil and plugs, and yes my tyres at the correct pressure as well! i am convinced the lambda is knackred though so it could be running on open loop which would do this to the MPG i think. Best regards Dave Quote
davey1825 Posted January 10, 2007 Author Report Posted January 10, 2007 i fact i think i'm putting more in my fiesta than in my Gal!!!! Quote
NikpV Posted January 10, 2007 Report Posted January 10, 2007 could the brakes be binding - is it a sudden change ?? Quote
Guest gooner52 Posted January 10, 2007 Report Posted January 10, 2007 i was driving a fiesta 1.1 last year and was getting around 75miles to Quote
davey1825 Posted January 10, 2007 Author Report Posted January 10, 2007 75mile to a tenner, i've just put a tenner in mine now, i'll see what i get out of it and let you's know in a few days, as for the brakes binding, it seems to roll nice n freely so i'm sure that they are alright at least!! best regards dave Quote
big_kev Posted January 10, 2007 Report Posted January 10, 2007 Davey1825...does your neighbour own a fuel can and a bit of plastic pipe ! Quote
davey1825 Posted January 10, 2007 Author Report Posted January 10, 2007 no but the dodgy fella in the council house over the road does though!! (Absolutely no offence to those living in council houses, in fact my parent live in one!!), I have however just quickly unsrewed a spk plg, and yes it confirms that the engine is running richer than a sultans bank account, new lambda here we come........ ;) best regards daves PS, the galaxy just refused to start then outside the house, resulting in the missus' face turning a strange shade of red, cranking without firing, had a idea what it was striaght away, immobiliser not coming off but why i tried it and 2nd time the red door light done it's normal on/off thingy and it started 1st crank ;) but what happened there i wonder ;) Quote
davey1825 Posted January 14, 2007 Author Report Posted January 14, 2007 hi everyone, My tenner ran out before, gonner by the way you were spot on i had travelled 78 miles on that tenner!!, i normally put Quote
davey1825 Posted January 14, 2007 Author Report Posted January 14, 2007 By the way i meant GOONER not GONNER!!!!!!! bad typo!!! Quote
Guest gooner52 Posted January 14, 2007 Report Posted January 14, 2007 gonner ^_^ u might be right  anyways, yes i think thats about a fair return for your Quote
davey1825 Posted January 14, 2007 Author Report Posted January 14, 2007 hmmm i suppose your right gooner, the handbook says that a 1.1 carb'd and no CAT fiesta does 46 miles to the gal "simulated urban" and a 1.1 CFi Cat'd fiesta only does 40.9 again on "simulated Urban" but that must mean without no turning the engine off and repeated cold starts etc i should think so 35 - 37 mpg isn't too bad like you said!!! Best Regards Big Dave Quote
Scorpiorefugee Posted January 14, 2007 Report Posted January 14, 2007 If you want to be accurate, fill it up, run it to nearly empty and fill it up again. Divide mile by litres and if you're getting less than 9 or 10, you've got a problem. 10 MPL is near as dammit to 45mpg. Quote
